CAD Technician II

Job Summary
The CAD Tech II is responsible for creating 3D parts, 3D sub-assembly models, 3D master assembly models, P&ID drawings, 2D/3D general arrangement drawings, bill of materials, structural drawings, pipe spool construction drawings, lifting diagrams, and submittal packages based upon project specifications and regulatory requirements. Contributes to part modeling for library management. Expected to perform tasks on projects with a high level of complexity.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Detailed review & analysis of sales documents, project specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements on a by project basis.
- Develop detailed process & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
- Parametrically model 3D parts, sub-assemblies, and master assemblies based upon various project inputs.
- Develop 2D/3D general arrangement drawings with details as required for project.
- Develop drawing Bill of Materials (BOM) for project and export of BOM to MS Excel.
- Develop detailed structural fabrication drawings for construction.
- Develop detailed pipe spool fabrication drawings for construction.
- Create PDF submittal packages for electronic submittal through various project phases.
- Incorporate drawing revisions based upon customer requirements, sales change orders, etc.
- Regularly attend squad check design review meetings and revise per comments as necessary.
- Create both electronic & physical issued for construction drawing packages for issuance to shop.
- Incorporate construction drawing revisions and re-issuance when required.
- Incorporate As-Built drawing revisions and issuance for final data book & project close out.
- Perform analysis to determine dry, wet, and operating weights.
- Assist subordinate colleagues with design related questions/issues.
- Perform structural frame analysis to confirm deflection requirements.
- Develop 3D parametric models for advanced level project specifications.
- Attend project kick-off meetings as required by management.
- Develop complex 3D parts for publishing into content center/standard libraries.
- Develop lifting plans and rigging geometry as required. Other duties as required by management.
Experience, Education, & License Requirements
- Some college preferred with an emphasis on structural/mechanical design principles.
- 5+ years experience in Design– Structural, Mechanical, Process & Basic Electrical Design required
Skills & Abilities
- Autodesk Vault and Inventor (High Level) required
- Design principles (National, local, & industry specific regulatory requirements)
- Design tools (Navisworks, AutoCAD, Inventor Studio, Fusion 360, Design Review)
- Presentation tools (PowerPoint, Navisworks)
- Ability to read, develop & review P&ID (Process & Instrumentation Diagram) drawings
- Ability to design, develop & review parametric 3-dimensional models from P&ID drawings.
- Ability to develop & review detailed fabrication drawings for production.
